I received a great email today…

I would love to say its anonymous, but its hard to do that via email. So instead I will say that it comes from a dance mum with a big heart and an even bigger can of hairspray!

This is a MUST READ for all dance mums and dads heading to the Concert this weekend.

A letter of thanks to all WPMPA Dance Parents from an amateur backstage mum…

After volunteering backstage for the recent Showcase, I thought it only appropriate to pen some thoughts and share them with you.

Thank you for:

• Arriving on time with your child
• Warning your child that you won’t be backstage with them, therefore avoiding a mini melt down at stage door
• Having their hair done in the appropriate style
• Ensuring they were wearing the correct colour stockings, yes, yes, we know there are four different shades of tan! Buy yours from the studio!
• Making sure they had the right shoes in their bag
• Including spare everything
• Labelling everything
• Sending your child with an activity, clean snacks and a water bottle
• Extra makeup, bobby pins, hair pins, hair nets, hair spray
• Knowing the difference between bobby pins and hair pins
• Removing earrings or sending bandaids to cover them with
• Taking off jewellery before arriving
• Providing an appropriate outfit to wear home, including shoes and undies!
• Teaching your child please and thank you and the difficult art of patience
• Reading the WPMPA Handbook

Volunteering backstage was a great experience. It confirmed that fact that my dancer and I are part of a fabulous dance school that enjoys spectacular teachers, children, mums and dads. The WPMPA community is a special one; supportive and caring, talented and committed. I’m so appreciative of this Dance School and the opportunity’s it provides our children.

So from me to you, thanks. Here’s to many more backstage experience
