Today, we’re going to talk about success, because I truly believe that everybody has their own version of what success looks like. Have you ever thought about yours?
I had role models in my past, who would demonstrate to me what it looked like to be successful. And what I saw from that was that they were always super busy, super stressed, super overwhelmed, and that they were completely in over their heads.
So in my early twenties, I grew up thinking that that was the pinnacle. That is what I was aiming for. And the more that I would take on, the more overwhelmed I would feel and the more stressed I would be… and I loved using that word, I don’t know why now, but I loved it. It meant that I had MADE it. That I was living the dream.
It wasn’t until I got into my thirties that I really started to think about and read about and research what success actually means.
But if you haven’t ever put any thought into what your version of success looks like, then I encourage you to really start thinking about being able to map out a journey for you from where you are now to what you feel is your ideal life, your ideal lifestyle and your version of success.
When I think about success for me now, I think about it based around three different pillars; the pillars of time, energy, and money.
Success for me is based around three pillars; time, energy and money. Let’s dive a little deeper into the pillar of time.
Time is the easiest one for me to talk about, because my love language, if you’ve read the book by Gary Chapman, is quality time. Time and having time is a really paramount part of my success. So for me, and what I want you to think about for you, is what time do you want to spend where?
How much time do you want to spend working?
How much time do you want to spend with your kids?
How much time do you want to spend working on yourself?
How much time do you want to spend doing professional development?
How much time do you want to spend with your partner?
How much time do you want to spend giving back to your community?
Because when it comes down to it, you are really in control of the time that you have.
And whilst I am far from the life that Beyonce lives, I know that she has 24 hours a day and I have 24 hours a day and how I choose to live those 24 hours is really up to me.
I spent a lot of my youth and especially the early days of my business thinking that I needed more time, that I just didn’t have enough time, that I wished that I just had an extra hour or an extra day or an extra month, when really I wasn’t using my time effectively.
In the next post, we’ll move on to talking about the second pillar; ENERGY. But for now, I really want you to think about time and what it means to you, whether you need more of it, and if you had more of it, what you would use it doing?
