I have been running on empty the last couple of weeks, going hard in all aspects of my life and running myself into the ground. We have 3 big launches at PMPA, one of which is giving me that big, uncomfortable, growth feeling in my tummy as it is a dream I have had for 5 years and it’s finally coming into place. The other two are exciting but not so scary.
I am part of a Rare Birds mentoring partnership that I won through the IDEA exchange program run by American Express. In a meeting with my Mentor last week, I suggested a heap of structural changes to the business that I thought would help form a new direction for us in the future. Her advice, calm down and do not make any big decisions right now. So… I boiled the kettle and took a breath.
In hindsight, I was crazy to think that making big decisions and forcing the company into big changes right now was a wise thing to do.
The truth is, I think we are all trying our best to control whatever we can in this very uncontrollable climate. We have rules and restrictions changing everyday, we have press releases and media calls telling us facts and figures that we are becoming internally anxious about and overall none of us are in a good position to think clearly right now.
So my advice to you this month, was my mentors advice to me. Slow down. Be calm. Do not make any sudden moves, big changes or revolutionary calls. Have a cup of tea. Know that you are doing your best with what you have at this time. Be kind to yourself as this too will pass.
How are you feeling during this crazy time? I would love to know.
