Each month I coach a number of clients from a range of industries and I always find that there are common themes we are sharing. This month, I have been coaching a lot on teams and getting the most out of your team.
One thing is for sure, in order for your team to want to work together, to be productive and to move your business forward, they need to be united behind a common goal.
Have you spent time working with your team on your mission, your vision and/or your values? Do they know what your company represents? Do they have buy in when it comes to the WHY of what you are doing?
If not, spending time (yes, that means making the time!) working on these things in your business can be a game changer.
Not everyone shares your passion for your business, but if you can find ways in which to describe to your team the reasons why your work is important, you will find one or more of these things start happening.
You’ll have less negativity in the workplace.
Employees will be more inclined to go above and beyond for you and your customers.
You will avoid having to performance manage team members who are not a good fit, because they will opt themselves out of the business once they understand that their values do not align with yours.
So put some time aside in the New Year for some PD with your staff. It’s an investment worth making time for.
