Today, we’re talking about something close to my heart—my to-do list.
It may sound a little dramatic, but without my to-do list, I can’t function. Whether it’s been part of my life since my teens or something that kicked in during my thirties, my to-do list is the daily structure that keeps me grounded.
Hopefully, sharing this helps you build your own system so you can get the most out of your day.
I’ve always been obsessed with productivity. There’s something deeply satisfying about crossing things off. Even though my list always seems to grow faster than it shrinks, I feel calm at the end of each day knowing I can start fresh tomorrow.
Here’s how I structure my to-do list:
- Top Priority: My four non-negotiables. I don’t do anything else until these are done. (Because you never know when daycare might call!)
- Quick Tasks: Fast wins like replying to an email or paying an invoice. They build momentum for the rest of the day.
- To Call: Phone calls I can make while on the move—driving, waiting for appointments, etc. It’s all about maximizing time.
- Life Admin: Non-work essentials that still need to happen—booking doctors, paying school fees, calling the plumber.
- B & C Tasks: Important but not urgent. B tasks come after Top Priority. C tasks follow B.
- Do At Home: Tasks that can only be done at home, like printing a document. Good to see at a glance when I walk in the door.
- Buy From Shops + Dinner: A simple list of grocery items and what’s for dinner. No brain space wasted trying to remember.
- Do Tonight: Tasks for the end of the day when my energy dips. Morning is for deep work—afternoons are for simpler stuff.
Sometimes, our to-do list feels so overwhelming we procrastinate—or avoid it entirely. But that just adds more stress.
Instead, try breaking your list into sections and see how much easier it feels to tackle.
