In Part 3 of my key takeaways from Simply Business Summit I’m sharing with you my learnings from Tahnée of The Strategy Studio. Tahnée is actually responsible for all of the marketing strategy and copywriting behind the Simply Stacey Morgan brand, so we work together very closely. It was fun to sit back, relax and hear her talk about all things marketing—knowing she was already implementing these ideas in my business!
1.Your website is a critical part of your sales funnel.
Often in business we spend so much time worrying about our social media that our website becomes a bit of an after-thought; we build it but then updating it is very low on the to-do list! (Sound familiar…) Tahnée reminded us that our website is likely one of the FIRST touch points a potential client has with our business. With that in mind, it’s important we keep our websites up to date and make sure they clearly communicate what we do, how it helps our potential client, and how they can get it. To see Tahnée’s website strategy in action, visit my newly-updated site at simplystaceymorgan.com.
2.The power of a one-liner
A one-liner is a bit like an elevator pitch. It’s your way of succinctly communicating what you do and how it makes your ideal client’s life better. But the benefit of having a one liner goes far beyond giving you confidence to answer the “So what do you do?” question when you walk into a networking event! Tahnée explained that our one-liners are a marketing tool we can actively use to make people curious about our brands and enlighten them as to how we could help them.
She gave us a long list of places we should be using our one-liners in our marketing, including: our email signature, social media bios, About Us page on our website, PDFs we send out to new inquiries and many more. If you’re wondering what a one-liner reads like, here’s the one-liner we created for Simply Business Summit:
Growing a successful business while nurturing yourself and your family is an exhausting juggling act. At Simply Business Summit you will step free of the overwhelm and receive the expert guidance you need to sustainably scale a business that works for you and your lifestyle.
3.Why you need a Lead Gen
If you read that and immediately thought “What’s a Lead Gen?”, don’t worry! I have a webinar on that coming up VERY soon. (You can pre-register for it here.) But in short, a lead generator it’s a piece of content that you share with your target audience in exchange for them joining your email list. (You’re generating a potential lead from it.) It should bring the recipient great value and demonstrate how your expertise can solve a problem they’re experiencing. I offer multiple lead generators on my website which you can see here.
Tahnée reminded us the reason we need lead generators is so we can nurture potential clients with great value and intention. The reality of social media is that less than 5% of people following you will actually see the content you post. Compare that to sending someone an email…. Where you’ll find between 30 and 60% of people on your email list will open an email from you (as long as you make it valuable and worth their time, of course).
If you’re reading this email right now, you probably joined my email list via one of my lead generators, whether that was a download I shared, a free webinar I hosted, or mini training I offered. Can you see how much more value I can bring you via your inbox than a short Instagram caption? This is why you need a Lead Gen.
Okay! That’s a wrap on my takeaways from Simply Business Summit 2022!
