I’ve been interviewing clients of mine for some podcast episodes which are like mini business case studies.
As much as I loved the conversations with the 5 women I chatted to, I think I enjoyed the editing process even more, because I got to relive some of the enlightening one-liners that came out during our discussions.
I wanted to share just a couple of them with you today, specifically the ones related to a common theme that emerged throughout the conversations. That theme was overcoming limiting beliefs.
If you’re not familiar with the phrase, a limiting belief is a state of mind or belief about yourself that holds you back in some way. These beliefs are often false accusations we make about ourselves, and the result is that we restrict ourselves from achieving what we’re truly capable of.
“Before THRIVE I thought I’d always be keeping my job with my regular wage. I never thought I’d be able to sustain myself just with my own business.” (This fabulous client now works for herself full time.)
“I’d always started work at eight o’clock. It’s when we open—I thought I had to be there…. I didn’t think I needed more staff….I didn’t schedule in holidays because I didn’t believe I had time for that.” (This rockstar now starts work at 9am after putting her little one on the bus, has 5 employees AND plans holidays.)
“I just couldn’t get myself to step over the line and make that investment in myself and my business. I didn’t think I was ready, and it was a big investment.” (This lovely lady DID make the investment in her professional development and openly says she “would be in a whole world of pain right now” had she not taken the plunge.)
Why am I sharing this with you? Because we ALL second guess ourselves. We ALL hold ourselves to standards far beyond what we expect of our team. We ALL have doubts and question whether we’re on the right path.
Please never think you’re alone in these entrepreneurial struggles!
