You probably know by now that I outsource a lot of things in my business. But the biggest game changer I’ve experienced in my life has been starting to outsource things from within my HOME.
That’s what I wanted to talk about with you today.
Here’s a list of 5 aspects of our homelife that I outsource.
CHILDCARE. This is a much bigger conversation and one with a lot of personal nuances, but making the decision to use childcare for our children at various points in their lives has been so valuable for us. Whether that’s been with the help of friend, family or a daycare centre (we’ve had all of the above), I realised early on that it wasn’t possible for me to just “run my business while the baby is napping!”. I go deeper on this topic in this week’s podcast episode, which you can listen to here.
IRONING. I don’t iron clothes in my house. There, I’ve said it! There needs to be some kind of normalisation around this topic so we can be done with the judgemental eyerolls this statement often comes with. I have an ironing lady and she’s fantastic. How did I find her? Google.
GROCERIES. I don’t step foot in the supermarket. I order my groceries online and get them delivered on a day I know I’m going to be working from home. It’s hardly revolutionary these days, I know, but still excellent. We go through bread and milk like you wouldn’t believe so that’s something that I have delivered every few days and I consider it an amazing part of my existence!
LIFE ADMIN. Last year I invested in an assistant for myself to help me across all of my businesses—and my life. All those tasks that need to be done—bills to pay, items to be posted, pick-ups from Office Works, podcasts to be edited—she does them all. Thank you, Kristi!
GIFTING. My local florist has a spreadsheet of all the people in my world that I care about and their birthdays and on those dates, they will just send them flowers and bill me for it! WOAH! I don’t have to worry about ducking into the shops to grab a last-minute gift because it’s already taken care of.
I like to think of outsourcing in terms of the different seasons of life we go through. In every season we’re going to need help by outsourcing in different areas, and that’s going to look different for every family. I love this mindset because it just gives you permission to try new things and figure out what works for you in your circumstances.
Is there something in your life that you’d love to outsource? (Give it a try… it doesn’t have to be forever!)
